Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026 · Applies to the LagomPrep mobile app for Android.
The short version. LagomPrep is built local-first. Your recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, pantry, cook log, and household profiles are stored only on your device and are not sent to us or anyone else. The app does not require an account. A few features involve third parties - advertising, in-app feedback, promo codes, and optional nutrition lookups - and those are described in full below.
1. Who this applies to
This policy covers the LagomPrep mobile application ("the app," "we," "us"). It explains what information the app handles, where that information goes, and the choices you have.
2. Information stored on your device
Almost everything in LagomPrep stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. This includes:
- Recipes you add, edit, or import, and your cook log and ratings.
- Meal plans, shopping lists, and pantry contents.
- Household profiles, including any names, ages, heights, weights, dietary goals, allergens, intolerances, and food preferences you choose to enter.
- App settings, such as your theme and supporter status.
This information is held in local storage on the device. We have no server that receives or stores it, and we cannot see it. If you uninstall the app, or use the in-app Settings → Reset Everything control, this data is erased from the device.
3. Information shared with third parties
The following features send limited information off your device. Each is described so you know exactly what leaves and why.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the app displays ads served by Google AdMob. To do this, Google may collect and process information such as your device's advertising identifier, general device information, and approximate location derived from your IP address, in line with Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can limit ad personalization in your device's settings (Settings → Google → Ads on most Android devices). Supporters who unlock the app do not see ads.
Feedback and bug reports (Formspree)
If you use Report a Bug / Suggest a Feature, the description you write is sent through the service Formspree and forwarded to the developer. Providing your email address on that form is optional; if you include it, it is used only to reply to you. If you leave it blank, no email address is sent.
Promo code redemption
If you redeem a supporter promo code, the code you enter is sent to our validation service (hosted on Cloudflare) to confirm it is valid and unused. No personal information is sent or stored as part of this check - only the code itself. If you are in a hard place, please reach out to us, we're happy to help out.
Nutrition lookups (USDA FoodData Central) - optional
If you choose to add your own USDA FoodData Central API key, the app will send the food names you look up to the USDA's public database to retrieve nutrition information. This happens only when you have supplied a key and actively perform a lookup. The key is yours and is stored on your device.
What the app does not do
The app does not include analytics or behavior-tracking SDKs, does not maintain user accounts, and does not upload your recipes, household data, or meal plans to any server.
4. Children's privacy
LagomPrep is a general-purpose household tool and is not directed to children. You may choose to add profiles for children in your household (for example, to record a child's food allergens); any such information is stored only on your device, is never transmitted to us, and is under your control. If you are a parent or guardian configuring the app, please review the advertising section above and your device's ad settings. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
5. Your choices
- Ads: limit ad personalization in your device settings, or become a supporter to remove ads entirely.
- Email: leave the optional email field blank when sending feedback.
- Delete everything: use Settings → Reset Everything to erase all app data from your device, or uninstall the app.
6. Data retention
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it, reset the app, or uninstall. Feedback you submit through the report form is retained by the developer and by Formspree for as long as needed to respond to and act on it.
7. Security
Because your content is stored locally and not on our servers, it is protected by your device's own security. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of the limited information handled by the third-party services above.
8. International users
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Because the app does not collect or store personal data on our own servers, most requests can be satisfied by you directly - by managing your device settings, your ad preferences, and the in-app reset control. 9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves - for example, if future versions add cloud sync or account features. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
